Apple's newest Pro phone stakes its case on a standout camera, while the company's first foldable, the iPhone Duo, trades pocketability for a tablet-sized canvas when unfolded.
CNET's head-to-head comparison of Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Duo frames the company's flagship lineup as a choice between two distinct propositions. The iPhone 18 Pro's clearest edge, per the report, is a camera the outlet describes as setting the phone apart. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable, answers with hardware that unfolds from a small phone into a tablet-sized device.
The camera is presented as the defining argument for the Pro model. In a market where flagship phones are increasingly difficult to tell apart on paper, CNET's framing positions imaging capability as the feature that distinguishes the iPhone 18 Pro within Apple's own portfolio. For readers weighing the two devices, that makes photography the Pro's core pitch — a familiar strength, refined rather than reinvented.
The iPhone Duo makes the opposite bet. As Apple's first foldable, its appeal lies not in any single component but in versatility: the device opens from a compact phone into something approaching a tablet, and CNET suggests that transformation could offer new ways to use an iPhone. That phrasing is telling — the report treats the foldable's value as prospective, a question of how users might adapt to a larger, flexible canvas rather than a proven advantage.
Taken together, the comparison sketches a lineup that segments rather than competes with itself. The iPhone 18 Pro doubles down on a strength Apple has already established — camera performance — while the iPhone Duo experiments with a category the company has not previously entered. Buyers choosing between them are effectively choosing between a proven imaging flagship and a first-generation experiment in form, with CNET's assessment positioning each as the more compelling option for different kinds of users.
