Apple's 27-series OS family arrives internationally, pairing up-to-30% faster app launches and nearly doubled AirDrop speeds with tunable Liquid Glass, one-eSIM iPhone Handoff and a noticeably improved Siri.
Apple has started rolling out iOS 27 to iPhones worldwide, an international release that delivers the rest of the company's 27-series operating system family to users the same day. The update arrives while observers wait to see whether Apple's newly introduced iPhones really are drawing the huge demand some reports suggest. For anyone hesitant about installing, the company is making an explicit case for upgrading right away.
Performance sits at the top of that case. Apple appears to have put substantial work into speed this cycle, and the difference is described as most noticeable when opening applications: the company says apps now launch up to 30% faster than before. AirDrop file transfers have been accelerated as well, moving at close to double their earlier pace.
The Liquid Glass design stays, a logical call with the 20th anniversary glass iPhone still ahead. Rather than discard the aesthetic, Apple has chosen to iterate it — shipping crisper icons, stronger contrast, and a new slider control that lets users set how transparent the interface appears.
Connectivity changes round out the headline features. iPhone Handoff lets a single eSIM serve two devices on supporting carriers, and once configured the experience is remarkably simple: the line goes live the instant either handset is unlocked. Users carrying two lines on one device are covered too, since both numbers transfer across alongside it.
Then there is Siri. Apple's assistant has drawn so much discussion over its improvement that it hardly needs an introduction, but the updated version is plainly much better at understanding. With performance, design refinements, Handoff and the AI upgrade counted among them, the release stacks up the twelve-plus reasons cited for installing today.
