As AI agents reshape enterprise software, Dynatrace and Arize AI are retooling observability built for deterministic systems to track nondeterministic behavior and speed operational response.
Enterprise observability is entering a new phase, with artificial intelligence driving change on two fronts: it is altering the applications that companies need to monitor, and it is reshaping how operations teams respond when something goes wrong. Dynatrace and Arize AI are pushing the discipline through that transition, moving observability beyond its established role of detecting problems and toward enabling action on them.
The pressure stems from a mismatch at the core of the tooling. Traditional observability platforms were built around deterministic software and telemetry such as logs, metrics and traces — signals that behave in predictable, repeatable ways. AI applications and agents behave differently, producing outputs that can depart from the deterministic patterns those platforms were designed to track. As enterprises put such systems into production, the assumptions underlying conventional monitoring are being tested.
