The confirmed date is the first hard milestone since May's fall tease, with Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo machines—several already leaked—queued for the first wave.
Google has committed to a firm launch milestone for its first Googlebook laptops: pre-orders go live on September 21 at 9 AM ET. The company relayed the timing in an email to subscribers who had opted in for updates, and the same day is now displayed on the official Googlebook website. It marks the first concrete scheduling detail attached to the product since Google floated a fall debut back in May.
Five PC makers—Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo—are positioned as first-wave Googlebook manufacturers. In the run-up to launch, several of their machines have already surfaced through leaks, giving buyers and channel watchers an unusually early look at the lineup before Google itself has detailed what will actually be on sale.
The most thoroughly exposed device so far is the Lenovo Googlebook 15. According to leaked specifications, it pairs an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 "Panther Lake" processor with as much as 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, drives a 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen refreshing at 120 Hz, and carries Google's colorful Glowbar light strip as a signature design element.
Notably, the same Core Ultra 5 325 keeps appearing in leaked Acer and ASUS Googlebook configurations as well. That represents a departure from Chromebook launch patterns, which have historically leaned on entry-level Intel silicon. Despite the confirmed pre-order date, Google has not identified which models will be purchasable on September 21, nor has it offered a shipping timeline—beyond saying that units will reach customers this fall.
